Editorial Policy

This page explains how we create and update the guides on this site. We want every reader to know what to expect from us and how to hold us to it.

Who writes our guides

Our guides are written and reviewed by the SlangDecode Editorial Team. We focus on plain language, real examples and clear explanations that a busy reader can understand quickly.

How we research each topic

  • We start with how a word or term is actually used in everyday conversations, games, videos and social apps.
  • We compare usage with reputable dictionaries, language references and trusted subject sources.
  • We note when a meaning is regional, new, fading or limited to one community.
  • We avoid claims we cannot support, and we say so when the origin of a word is unclear.

How we write

  • Easy words and short sentences, with no filler.
  • A direct answer first, then context, examples and tips.
  • Clear labels for rude, adult or sensitive language.
  • Respect for the communities where words begin.

Use of images and graphics

We use photos from Unsplash, with credit to the photographers. Our infographics are created by our team to summarize the main points of a guide. Images are for illustration and do not show real people mentioned in an article.

Corrections and updates

Language changes quickly. Each guide shows the date it was last updated, and we revisit guides when usage changes. If you spot an error or have a better example, contact us. We review every report and correct mistakes as soon as we can.

Advertising and independence

Our site may show ads. Advertisers do not decide what we write or how we explain a word. Our goal is to be useful to readers first.

A note on health, legal and safety topics

Some guides touch on topics like cars, online safety or beliefs. They are for general information and are not professional advice. For medical, legal, mechanical or financial decisions, please speak with a qualified professional.
